About Kanday Village

Kanday Village sits in the Hushe Valley of Ghanche, Baltistan, and is the usual trekking trailhead for Nangma Valley. After Skardu → Khaplu by road, a jeep continues up Hushe to Kanday at roughly 2,680 m (≈8,800 ft) — the last settlement before footbridges and the gorge walk toward Mingulu Broq and the Towers of Nangma Valley.

Sightseeing here is practical rather than scenic-only: river views below the village, porter and guide meet-ups, and the start of suspension-bridge crossings on the Kunhar/Hushe tributaries. Most visitors spend little time in Kanday itself — they walk the same day or camp at Mingulu Broq on day one of a two- to three-day approach.

How Kanday fits a Nangma itinerary

Jeep in: Private 4×4 from Khaplu (allow roughly two hours on the Hushe jeep track, conditions permitting). PTG quotes this transfer with Skardu tour packages when you add a Nangma trek extension.

Walk out: Cross the river on wooden bridges below Kanday, climb into the side valley, and reach Mingulu Broq in about four to six hours. Upper Nangma meadows and the tower cirque follow on subsequent days.

Best time and planning

Plan late June through August when bridges and trails are most reliable. Share group size, camping needs, and fitness on WhatsApp — we align jeeps, guides, and permits with your Baltistan dates.
